Nursery bulletin: Friday 7th May 2021

Dear nursery families,

The children quickly settled back into nursery life after the long weekend and were raring to go.  It’s amazing how much learning you can fit into four days.

Highlights from this week:

ELC 1

  • We have been using the changes in weather to help the children become more independent when getting ready to go out to play. We are encouraging them to put their waterproofs and wellies on themselves and are  supporting them with fastenings.  This week they have had more practice than usual.
  • The children had a great time outside in the puddles, experimenting with how to make the biggest splash; they quickly realised that this happened when they all jumped at the same time.
  • Our ‘Garden Centre’ has been very busy this week; the children have been making flowers at the creative area and planting them in the potting. This activity has also developed counting skills, sharing and comparing sizes of plant pots.
  • In the house corner this week we have seen groups of children cooking for each other and enjoying the social side of sitting around a table together. Some children have been experimenting with mark making whilst taking orders on their clip boards and others have been involved in preparing the food.  It has been wonderful listening to how the children communicate with each other, some describing what they are cooking, others taking on the role of a ‘grown up’ and a few just chatting.

Snacks next week:   Fruit and vegetable sticks are always available with morning snack.

Other news:

Kind request

We would be really grateful if anybody has any artificial flowers, plants or garlands, that you no longer need.  The children could use in their garden centre to brighten up the area. Similarly, any old gardening magazines would be great, for the children to look at the images and print.

Snack money

Please continue to make snack payments of 50p per child per day via ParentPay.  If you are having any problem with this please speak to a member of staff.

Illness

Aware of the rise in Covid cases nationally, we are continuing to be vigilant to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love from,

The Nursery Team
