Nursery Friday bulletin; 28th August 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

It’s been a positive third week, despite the deluge of rain. Whilst we might be fed up of the rain, many of our children love it. Exploring puddles and mud is more exciting than you might think!

Highlights from this week:

  • Many of the children have had an opportunity to bake this week and have taken real pride in their creations. All children will be baking next week.
  • Children have worked together to find solutions to build bridges for trains that need to pass over the huge structures we have been building with our wooden blocks. They have shown great determination and are building their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
  • We have a new sandpit and mud kitchen outdoors! Thank you to Miss Fojcik for arranging this and to her friends for the donated wood and time and effort spent building. Our children have loved playing in the sandpit, even before the sand goes in!
  • We have seen lots of imaginative play taking place in the home areas this week.
  • Some of our youngest children have shown a great interest in using a screw driver at our woodworking bench in the Nurture Room.

News:

School lunches

Hot lunches are back on the menu! These MUST be ordered through ParentPay. Thank you.

Snack Money

We are now ready to move to a cashless system for collection of snack money to reduce the risk that handling cash poses for our staff.  We will be able to collect the snack money through Parent Pay. A contribution of 50p per day that your child attends nursery is suggested. Please feel free to speak to a member of the Nursery team or Mrs Pearce if you have any questions regarding the use of Parent Pay.

Illness

As you will be aware, there has been a cold circulating within the school and more widely within the town. Whilst we are being vigilant for symptoms of Covid-19, we also feel the need to err on the side of caution, in our efforts to keep everyone safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance, which can be found here. As per the most recent guidance, children and adults must remain at home for 48 hours after a negative test. Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe. Have a lovely weekend! J

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
