Friday’s weekly bulletin: 28th August 2020

Happy Friday everyone!

The purpose of this Friday bulletins is simply to ensure that you, as parents and carers of P1-7 children, receive important information about the coming week.

School lunches

Hot lunches are back on the menu! These MUST be ordered through ParentPay. We will still be operating our staggered eating and play times and will still be using the dining hall and classrooms. Our fantastic kitchen team are introducing a number of ‘takeaway’ serving solutions to ensure on-going hygiene precautions.

PE

As we continue with our outdoor PE plan, please know that we will not be taking children out in really wet weather. We want to keep our children healthy so will not be exposing them to the elements unnecessarily. We are refining our indoor PE in line with updated national guidance. Please continue to send children to school in outdoor PE kits and spare socks and shoes.

Coats

Please send your child with a waterproof coat EVERYDAY. We want the children to be outside at playtime but with the weather being changeable at the moment, a coat is essential.

Curriculum overview

Please take a moment to look at our ‘back to school’ curriculum overview that seeks to explain what the children will be learning over this first half term. We hope it’s helpful as a general description of what is happening in the classrooms.

Colds and sniffles

As children return to school, there has been the expected return of ‘colds and sniffles’. During this time of extra vigilance, we are asking you as parents and carers, to err on the side of caution when deciding to send your child to school. A ‘cold and sniffle’ is NOT a symptom of COVID-19 but we are trying to keep everyone as safe and well as we can so your help is greatly appreciated.

Face masks on buses

From Monday 31 August, face coverings should (unless exemptions apply) be worn on dedicated school transport by all children aged five and over, bringing it into line with guidance for public transport.

Staying vigilant

It is clear that the threat of COVID-19 remains significant and we must not lose focus on that. This requires ever present vigilance and it is vital that nobody attends school or uses school transport if they are displaying any symptoms. Our best chance of keeping our education settings COVID-free is by keeping it out in the first instance.

Young people and staff members must not attend if they or any household member are showing symptoms of COVID-19, such as new persistent cough, temperature and/or loss or change in ability to taste or smell.

The person should seek a COVID-19 test as soon as possible. This can be done via the government portal www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test. In line with national guidance, until the test results are received the person and members of their household should self-isolate.

48hrs after test

If you are advised by NHS Scotland to get a COVID-19 test for you or your child, and should that test return as negative, you are still required to remain at home for 48hrs AFTER the test result. This is in line with national guidance.
