School Improvement update

As a new feature on our weekly bulletin, we thought we’d try and share regular updates on some school ‘business’ that goes on in the background to help our school ‘be the best we can be’. This week, we welcomed our first official visitor into our school, our SBC schools manager, Gilliam McKenzie. It was brilliant to be able to show her around our school, observing COVID restrictions, to showcase some of the excellent learning and experiences our children enjoy.

Our Health & Wellbeing Curriculum

As you know, we are developing our Health & Wellbeing curriculum at the moment. SBC have recently produced a helpful information leaflet that explains the various programmes and supports that are available across SBC schools, from ELC to secondary. Why not take a look??

Early Learning and Childcare survey

Would you be able to spare a few minutes to complete a survey about your experience of nursery (Early Learning and Childcare)? You may have a child in our nursery right now or your wee one may have come through a nursery in the past 2 years. Either way, your input matters. The following link will take you to the SBC website and the SBC-wide survey > https://scotborders.citizenspace.com/social-work-integration/provision-of-elc-2021

COVID vigilance

Please take a moment to note the following important points:

  • Continue to be vigilant in identifying symptoms in your child (temperature, new continuous cough, change in sense of taste or smell). If your child shows any of these, please keep them off school and get them tested.
  • When awaiting test results, your child will need to remain at home, hopefully just for 24 hours, until the test result comes through. If the test result is negative, your child can come back to school.
  • If your child gets a positive test result, they will need to isolate for 10 days. In this event, we will provide a ‘home learning’ work pack, if your child is well enough to complete it. This is a support not an expectation.
  • If anyone else in your household tests positive for COVID 19, please contact us at school to discuss the possible implications for your child.
