School bulletin: Friday 4th December 2020

Happy Friday everyone!

Parent consultation phone calls

We hope you found this week’s parent phone calls helpful. Our teachers were able to have very positive conversations with a vast majority of families.  If you missed the calls this time, we’ll be repeating the process in the new year and will share the next update on your child’s learning then.

Warm coats and warm clothes

As this bulletin goes ‘live’, the rain is pouring and the temperature has dipped. With this in mind, please ensure your child has a warm, waterproof coat every day. It is probably good to think about footwear and gloves / hats too. Thank you.

Christmas @ Edenside – some reminders

A Christmas clothes ‘swap shop’ is being organised by our Parent Council. If you have any Christmas jumpers / t-shirts / outfits that you don’t want, please send to school as soon as possible. They will then be washed and bagged before being made available for other children.

Christmas jumpers or other festive clothing can be worn every day of the last week of term, with normal uniform.

Christmas cards are strongly discouraged. We introduced this approach last year, in line with our ‘sustainability’ efforts. In place of Christmas cards, children will add their name and a message to our Christmas message board in the entrance hall.

Parent Council News – fundraising events reminders

50/50 Christmas Draw

Letters went out to children last week about how to enter the draw. Here’s a copy of the letter if you need more Christmas 5050 Draw

If you are collecting money on behalf of friends/family, please make it clear on your form who the tickets are for (E.g Mr Smith x 3 tickets, Mrs Smith x 3 tickets) so we can allocate the correct number of tickets to each person entering. Thank you! The draw will take place on Wednesday 16th December ‘live’ in school.

Christmas Hamper Raffle

Thank you to everyone who has already donated something towards the hamper. If you haven’t had a chance yet and would like to contribute something, please contact Heather Waddell, Louise Lodge or Louise Smail via the Facebook parent page. Tickets will be £1 a strip and will be available to purchase from the above mentioned parent council members and from Granny Jeans Bakery in the square. The draw will take place on Thursday 17th December.
