Dear parents,
We hope everyone enjoyed the St Andrew’s Day holiday, it has certainly made the week go extremely quickly and it is hard to believe that we only have two full weeks left of the term. This is such a great time of year to be in the nursery and it’s wonderful to share your children’s excitement for Christmas and all that it brings.
It’s safe to say that Christmas has definitely arrived at Edenside. The children enjoyed decorating the tree and even managed to reach the high branches with a little assistance. Some children designed their own baubles using patterns and Christmas characters. There are plenty of parcels under the tree, beautifully wrapped by the children at their wrapping stations where they measured, cut and stuck the paper before writing the gift tags.
Our new magnetic ‘Polydron’ has been a great success. From the minute we opened the box the children have been truly captivated. They have been: talking about 2D and 3D shapes, counting, working out how magnets work, creating pictures and models and involved conversations about what they have made. It has encouraged sharing, co-operation and teamwork and has been fascinating to watch.
This week some of our budding chefs have baked cheese, red pepper and courgette muffins which were delicious. Other children were creative in the kitchen too but didn’t make food for us to eat, they made festive bird feeders to put up in the garden for the birds during the colder months.

Parent Council 50/50 Draw
Hopefully you will have found a letter in your child’s bag from the Parent Council with details about the 50/50 Draw fundraiser. This is a great way to support Edenside and be in with a chance of winning half of the total amount raised. If you would like more details or additional forms for friends or family please email the school office edensideps@scotborders.gov.uk or ask a member of staff.
Spare clothes
Thank you to everyone who had donated clothes the Nursery, with your help and kindness we are fully stocked for every eventuality.
Christmas Lunch – Wednesday 16th December
It would be really helpful for the kitchen staff to know in advance if your children would like to have Christmas lunch with their friends, it is available to book on ParentPay.
Illness
As we come into the last two weeks of term, we ask that you continue to be vigilant to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance. Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.
Have a lovely weekend!
Kind regards,
The Nursery Team
