Nursery bulletin: Friday 30th October 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another week at Edenside Nursery has flown by; the children are always active whether inside or out and the cooler, wetter weather doesn’t dampen their enthusiasm.

Highlights of the week:

  • The greatest highlight of the week has been the reintroduction of singing, this has caused such excitement for both children and staff.  It really is amazing how much we all learn through song.
  • The room has been filled with the spirit of halloween this week, children have been pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting, making ghosts, creating more potions and making and playing with jelly worms.
  • Our young GP’s and nurses have been rushed off their feet in the Nurture room surgery this week, appointments being made, broken bones fixed and prescriptions for sore tummies written.
  • Our construction area has been a hive of activity and we have been amazed at the levels of concentration, creativity and engagement.  The children have independently enhanced the area with cars and small loose parts.
  • We have been busy baking and the children have made porridge shortbread, cheese straws an pumpkin muffins .

Health and Wellbeing

You may already be aware of this from our Facebook page but just to make sure you all know, we are bringing back our old friends Healthy Harley and Sammy Safe. These soft toys help us share information with the children about how to keep ourselves healthy and safe both at home and in nursery.

With Sammy Safe will be looking at fire safety next week with Bonfire night in mind.  We will also be discussing the food we eat and what is needed for a healthy and balanced diet with Healthy Harley.   We would be grateful if you could talk about this with your child too, encouraging healthy choices and this is a great website for healthy lunch box ideas: https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes

Please can you also make sure that the children’s water bottles only contain plain water, not flavoured water or juice.

Staying vigilant

Aware of the rise in Covid cases nationally, we are continuing to be vigilant to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance, which can be found here.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Have a lovely weekend and happy Halloween!

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
