Nursery bulletin: Friday 23rd October

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have been sharing stories about their October break with us this week and we were delighted to have them back refreshed and raring to go.

Highlights of the week:

· After exploring outside and discovering mini beasts hiding in our garden the children have been making a bug investigation station and bug hotel. We have also had toy mini beasts lurking in the water tray and some children have been busy making spiders to hang up outside.

· Whilst we were on holiday lots of the trees have been shedding their berries and leaves, some children spent the afternoon working as a team to sweep, pick up and tidy the garden. They did a truly amazing job.

· Part of the Nurture room has opened up a Doctors surgery and our young GPs and nurses have been seeing patients this week. Thankfully they have all have made a full and speedy recovery.

· The children have been using their imagination this week after listening to ‘Room on the Broom’ by Julia Donaldson, they created broomsticks, potions and wands made with sticks found in the garden. With these magic words ‘abra ca dabra’ they turned the staff into frogs.

We have been practicing our early writing skills, threading cheerios onto spaghetti and mark making when taking orders for their cafe and with charcoal from the fire pit.

NEWS:

Halloween

Next week we have planned some fun seasonal activities to celebrate Halloween. On Friday, the 30th of October, children are welcome to come to Nursery wearing something orange and/or black (but not a costume).

Autumn’s here

As the days are getting cooler please can you make sure you dress your child appropriately for the weather, we supply waterproof coats and trousers but for many children who spend long periods of the day outside they will start to need a hat and gloves. We would be grateful if you could make sure that all items are clearly labelled.

Illness

Aware of the rise in Covid cases nationally, we are continuing to be vigilant to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance, which can be found here. Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Have a lovely weekend! J

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
