Last day of term news – Thursday 23rd December 2021

It’s Christmas Eve eve! The school bell will be sounding later today. We’ve made it!

This past week has been great fun as we’ve enjoyed a different Christmas event every day…

On Monday, the classes enjoyed watching the online version of Cinderella. To get a taste of what the children enjoyed, you can watch the short trailer here. Our thanks to Parent Council for funding this event.

On Tuesday, our fantastic catering team hosted the annual Christmas lunch. This was a wonderful event, with all school staff joining the children for the feast as we all sang along to Christmas songs. Photos of the event are on our Facebook page that can be seen here.

On Wednesday, we took a walk to the Town Square and sang some carols by the Christmas tree. This was a truly wonderful event which passers by particularly enjoyed. As one onlooker commented,

“I shed a tear. The wee faces and voices have absolutely made our Christmas. Please tell me this is a new tradition.”

Today, our last day, despite having low numbers of children in attendance,  we will finish the day with a whole-school virtual assembly, with each class singing their favourite Christmas song to the rest of the school. We will also find out the winner of the Parent Council 50/50 prize draw. See Facebook for the streamed video result.

As we come to the end of this term, we want to thank you for your ongoing support. These final few weeks have been particularly challenging with the arrival of the Omicron variant of COVID-19. We have seen an increase in positive cases across the school but have worked tirelessly to minimise the impact on the children and their learning.

So, all that’s left to say is,

“We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Fingers crossed we can welcome everyone back to school on Monday 10th January

Love from Team Edenside
