Nursery bulletin: Friday 17th December 2021

Dear families,

We have had a truly magical week at nursery and can’t believe how quickly time is flying by.

Highlights from this week:

This week’s highlight of the week has to be the brief visit from Father Christmas on Thursday to drop off a sack full of gifts.  The children had been talking with great excitement and detail about what happens on Christmas day and were so surprised to see him Santa walk through the nursery door and were delighted to see their names on a parcel.

The children had a great Christmas party involving lots of dancing, running and games. The children chose to play Christmas corners and musical statues and then they played pass the parcel. It was wonderful to see the children in the hall making the most of the big space.

They have continued to enjoy Christmas crafts at the art area, designing cards, drawing father Christmas and making their own party hats.  As always at this time of year all  of the art work produced involves glitter and sequins.

The children have been really thoughtful and kind this week.  We have been talking about Christmas being a time for giving and have made cards for people in the community.  We will be welcoming new children to the nursery in January and when we shared this with the children they were all volunteering to help them find the pegs, show them around and find their trays.

On Friday our pre-school children made the staff incredibly proud when they walked to the church for the Christmas service.  They joined in with the Christmas songs that they have been practicing and when they returned wanted to tell us all about their exciting experience.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Notes

Staffing

We would like to officially congratulate Mrs Douglas on her new role as Home School Link worker within Kelso cluster schools.  Next Thursday will be her last day at Edenside Nursery, I’m sure you’ll join us in thanking her for her hard work and commitment to all our children, families and staff team.  We know this is a fantastic opportunity for her but she will be sorely missed by all of us.

Next week’s Christmas events

We will be having Christmas lunch on Tuesday 21tst December and can be ordered on ParentPay.

The pre-school children will be going the sing carols around the Christmas tree in Kelso square on Wednesday 22nd December.

Thursday 23rd December is our final day at nursery.

Keeping Warm

Please make sure your child brings a hat and gloves to wear at nursery.  We try our hardest to make sure they get sent home but we’d be grateful if you could make sure all items are labelled to make this job easier.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.  If your child is unwell/going to be absent from nursery please notify the school via telephone (01573 224264) or send a message through the Expressions App.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
