Nursery bulletin: Friday 19th November 2021

Dear families,

We have had a great week at nursery, spending lots of time outside in the nursery garden, Secret Garden and our newly fenced outdoor area.

Highlights from this week:

The addition of new fence means we have another safe outdoor space to investigate and play in.  The children have been involved in clearing, tidying and moving equipment between the sheds.  With their help we now have a ‘wheels’ shed, an equipment shed and a shed for the children to play in.

The space outside the nursery door is being used for bikes, trikes and scooters.  We have been talking about safety and the importance of wearing a helmet, how to look after the equipment and what to do if we have a flat tyre. The children were also learning to share and take turns.

Introducing a space for the children to go inside caused great excitement and within minutes the children were writing lists of all the equipment they wanted inside for example, cups, teapot, food and a swimming pool.

For Scottish Book Week the children went on a Scavenger hunt in the Secret Garden, they had a picture list of familiar books on a clip board and had to hunt around the garden in search of the book covers.  The children really enjoyed working together to find the pictures and record their findings.

Our favourite storey, by a Scottish Author was ‘What the Ladybird Heard at the Seaside’ by Julia Donaldson.  The children were really engaged when being read this book and excited by and knowledgeable about, the events that take place.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Notes

Keeping Cosy

Please can I remind you that the children have access to the garden and secret garden in all weather.  We would be grateful if you could make sure your child brings in a hat and gloves with their name clearly marked.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

If your child is unwell/going to be absent from nursery please notify the school via telephone (01573 224264) or send a message through the Expressions App.

Have a lovely weekend!
