Nursery bulletin: Friday 20th August 2021

Dear nursery families,

ELC welcome

We would like to warmly welcome all of our parents and carers to Edenside Nursery.

Every Friday we send out a Bulletin where we share highlights of the nursery week and keep you up to date with important nursery information.

Highlights from this week:

We are amazed and delighted at how well the children have come into nursery this week and are settling in extremely well already.

It has been wonderful watching the returning children helping and supporting the new children, inviting them to play and showing them around.

As we no longer need to be in separate bubbles, the children have been exploring and rediscovering the whole nursery and garden.  The busiest areas have been block corner, the tool bench, the art area and home corner.

In the garden, the children have been climbing, jumping, balancing, running and enjoying the space and freedom which the garden offers.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Other news:

Snack

The Scottish Government have introduced a new system called Scottish Milk and Healthy Snack Scheme.  The Scheme will fund a daily portion of plain fresh cow’s milk (or specified alternative) and a healthy snack (fruit or vegetables) for all children under 5 in day care.  The scheme aims to support the development of healthy eating habits for later life.  We will no longer require a daily snack contribution for your child.

Ordering lunch

Please can you remember to order your child’s lunch through ParentPay.  All new families should have received a letter with your login details for your child’s account, please check your child’s bag and let a member of staff know if you have not yet received it.

Labelling

We would be grateful if you could label your child’s clothing and water bottles to ensure we return them to the correct child.

Allergies

If your child has any food allergies or intolerances,  please can you speak to a member of staff who will give you a dietary requirement form to complete & then email along with a medical letter to specialdietrequests@scotborders.gov.uk

Nappies

If your child wears nappies or pull ups please can you bring in your own nappies, wipes and nappy sacks.  A member of staff will inform you when we need more supplies.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love from,

The Nursery Team
