Welcome back
We’ve had such a positive first few days, with plenty of smiles and laughter. Our new Primary 1 children have started their ‘big school’ journey and our Primary 7 pupils have marked the final year of theirs! Whatever year your child is in, the Edenside staff are committed to ensuring every child has a really positive experience, in a supportive, fun and encouraging environment. We look forward to working with you in the weeks and months to come. #bethebestyoucanbe
Friday bulletin
Every Friday, we send out this weekly bulletin, sharing important school news. The bulletins are uploaded to our school website and links shared via Groupcall email. We hope you find them helpful. #communicationiskey
Ready, respectful and safe
Over these first 1 ½ weeks, the children in all classes will be thinking about our school ‘responsibilities’; to be ready, respectful and safe. We believe everyone, adults and children, have a responsibility to be ready to learn, respectful to each other and the school and to be safe in all things. The COVID 19 measures we have in place are a particularly important part of our ‘safe’ responsibility. On our initial return to school, we do have a number of stricter measures in place that we believe are necessary, despite the increasing relaxations outside school, to ensure a careful and safe coming together of our children. We eagerly anticipate relaxing many of these measures in the coming weeks which will see more normality including year groups mixing together for playtime. Watch this space for regular updates. #staysafe
Remember…
1) Report a child’s positive test result immediately either by phoning the school (if during office hours) or using our new ‘positive test’ form.
2) Be vigilant about COVID-19 symptoms; self-isolate if required and follow NHS ‘Test and Protect’ advice. Please phone the school to let us know if a member of your household tests positive.
3) Follow the ‘4 steps for being safe on the school run’;
- Adults must wear a face covering at drop off / pick up.
- Stick to one adult at drop off / pick up.
- Adults keep 2 metres apart.
- Avoid car sharing.
Important paperwork
At the start of this new school year, we need your help in completing some important paperwork and will be sending the following home in school bags next week:
- Annual data check – please check that all the information we have about your child is correct;
- Showbie consent form – please confirm that you are happy for your child (and you) to use a new iPad App that we will be using to share learning;
- iPad agreement (for P4s and new pupils) – please confirm that you have read the Terms and Conditions associated with your child receiving a school iPad.
So, from Monday, please check school bags, sign the paperwork and return it as soon as possible. Thank you. #parentalconsent

Facebook update
Over the past year, our class Facebook groups have been so good in helping build a positive connection between class teachers and families as we’ve shared updates and insights into school life. With the start of the new school year and new classes, it is necessary to launch a full suite of new Facebook groups so, next week, look out for an email from school including a link to a NEW Facebook group for your child’s new class. #insightsintolearning
Have a good weekend and we’ll see everyone next week.
