School bulletin: Friday 27th November 2020

Happy Friday everyone!

Don’t forget that schools are closed on Monday for St Andrew’s day. We’ll be back on Tuesday 1st December.

Continued vigilance – working together to keep our community safe

Whilst we have been incredibly fortunate in Kelso with the low number of COVID-19 cases, as a school we are far from complacent. Our numerous safety measures remain in place and are absolutely essential to ensure the ongoing safety and wellbeing of all children and staff. Please continue to observe the national and local guidance. Thank you for your ongoing support. #StaySafe

Christmas @ Edenside – plans for the festive season

As was mentioned last week, we have been busy making plans for the end of term to ensure our children still enjoy a fun-filled festive time. The plans are as follows:

Tuesday 1st – Friday 11th December will be our ‘Winter Festivals’ learning focus. Every class will be exploring a different element of winter as well as enjoying a few festive ‘fun’ activities.

Monday 14th – Friday 18th will be ‘crazy Christmas week’. Every day will have a special event and children can wear a Christmas jumper or a ‘touch of Christmas’ with their uniform every day.

Monday14th Edenside’s “Christmas Show in a day”. Every ‘bubble’ will plan, rehearse, perform and record their part in a whole-school show to be compiled and then shared with families later in the week.
Tuesday15th Bubble party day. Every bubble will have their own party. Children can wear party clothes. Details for your child’s class will be shared nearer the time.
Wednesday16th Christmas lunch  (please book this on ParentPay) and Christmas Show screening (and then shared with families).
Thursday17th Online pantomime. Every bubble will sit down and enjoy a pre-recorded ‘live action’ pantomime.
Friday18th Christmas movie morning. Every bubble will choose their favourite Christmas film, get comfortable and enjoy.

A Christmas clothes ‘swap shop’ is being organised by our Parent Council. If you have any Christmas jumpers / t-shirts / outfits that you don’t want, please send to school as soon as possible. They will then be washed and bagged before being made available for other children.

Christmas cards are strongly discouraged. We introduced this approach last year, in line with our ‘sustainability’ efforts. In place of Christmas cards, children will add their name and a message to our Christmas message board in the entrance hall.

Parent Council News – fundraising events

50/50 Christmas Draw

Letters went out to children this week about how to enter the draw. If you are collecting money on behalf of friends/family, please make it clear on your form who the tickets are for (E.g Mr Smith x 3 tickets, Mrs Smith x 3 tickets) so we can allocate the correct number of tickets to each person entering. Thank you! The draw will take place on Wednesday 16th December ‘live’ in school.

Christmas Hamper Raffle

Thank you to everyone who has already donated something towards the hamper. If you haven’t had a chance yet and would like to contribute something, please contact Heather Waddell, Louise Lodge or Louise Smail via the Facebook parent page. Tickets will be £1 a strip and will be available to purchase from the above mentioned parent council members and from Granny Jeans Bakery in the square. The draw will take place on Thursday 17th December.
