Nursery bulletin: Friday 26th November 2021

Dear families,

The nursery has been a hive of activity this week, the children have been involved in wide range of activities both inside and out.

Highlights from this week:

The children were really excited to find ice in the garden on Monday.  They lifted it off the big tray and were describing what it felt and looked like: shiny, cold, wet and the air bubbles made it look like “it has sugar on it”.  The ice returned on Wednesday and provided more opportunities for the children and this time they were interested in discovering what happens when you drop the ice on different surfaces.

The children helped to refill the sand trays and the large sand pit, by filling, carrying and emptying different size buckets. This job prompted lots of language around weight, how strong the children were and size (of buckets and muscles).  The children used the large scales in the garden to find out which bucket was the heaviest.

The children have been mark making in lots of different areas of their play this week.  Outside they were using natural objects to ‘write’ in the sand, their fingers to make marks in the frost and their wellies to mark make from the puddles.  Inside, children have been drawing and creating at the art table, designing plans in the block area and some children were using the Ipad to type their names and then use their fingers to write underneath on a post-it note.

It has been wonderful to see the return of some of the children who have been off nursery.  Everyone has settled back in really well and it has been wonderful to see the friendships between the children rekindled and strengthened.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.
