P1-7 bulletin: Friday 25th March 2022

Love for Ukraine

Today was our final fundraiser event in aid of the Ukrainian Disaster Appeal. The bake sale was a huge success (and very yummy) but wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing support of so many of our families; thank you! A special thanks also to Miss McCombie for organising the logistics and to our wee group of P7s for the original idea. But the main focus must be on the children and families in or fleeing Ukraine – our thoughts and prayers continue to be with you!

RagBag collection next week (Tuesday 29th)

We regularly collect unwanted clothing and other items using the RagBag scheme. Collection bags were sent home a few weeks back. Please send RagBags (or any bags of rags) to school on Monday or Tuesday, ready for collection. This is a really easy way to help raise funds for the school. Thank you

Let’s get sporty

With some normality creeping in, we’re excited to be taking part in two (yes two!) sporting competitions next week. On Monday afternoon, our P7 netball team will take part in a Kelso schools challenge; good luck team! Then on Tuesday afternoon, our P6 and P7 pupils will take on Broomlands in a cross country running race’ you can do it Edenside! It really is great to be able to enjoy the friendly rivalry that sports competitions provide. Here’s to many more next term.

Spring Celebration

This past week and into next sees our children thinking and learning about the BIG question, ‘How do people celebrate new beginnings?’ This learning will culminate with a visit to Kelso North church next Friday morning and the return of our annual spring celebration. The classes will sing a few songs, share some of their answers to the BIG question and hear am Easter message from Reverend Rodwell. It’s so good to be getting ‘out, out’ again!

Coming soon – Showbie for Parents

This school year, our teachers (and P4-7 pupils) have been using a new App on the iPads called Showbie. This online portal provides a place for children and their teachers to share learning and discussion about classroom topics. A super feature is that we can also give parents direct, secure access to their child’s learning space, providing a virtual window into the classroom. We will be sharing further information about this after Easter. Watch this space.
