P1-7 bulletin: Friday 5th November 2021

Is it really November already? Where does the time go? It’s been another very busy week and next week will be the same. Hopefully the following information keeps us all right! Have a good weekend when it comes.

Curriculum overviews – a summary of this term’s learning

Please take a moment to look over the attached curriculum overview for your child’s class, for this term. These provide an outline of the core learning in class and related ‘home learning’ supports for the coming weeks. https://wp.me/p6TCck-1hU

Rag Bag collection – what’s in your wardrobes?

At regular intervals throughout the year, we send out the Rag Bag collection bags. Hopefully your child brought these home in their school bag. The Rag Bag lorry will be coming to school on Tuesday 9th November so please send / bring any donations to school on Monday or Tuesday morning. Your donations help to raise funds for our school so please have a sort out of your wardrobes and linen cupboards. Thank you.

Poppy Appeal – still available next week

We are proud to support the Scottish Poppy Appeal that raises funds to support ex-service personnel and their families. Poppies will still be on sale next week and our P7 Fundraising Team will visit classes on a daily basis to sell poppies and collect donations. Thank you in advance for your support of this incredibly important charity. Lest we forget.

Flu vaccination – a date for your diary

A wee reminder that the flu vaccination for our children will be next Thursday (11th November). The flu vaccination team will be in school for the day, delivering the nasal spray to all those who have returned consent forms.

P7 Teams – giving our senior pupils important responsibilities

After a challenging time last school year, we are pleased to be able to relaunch our P7 Teams this year. Providing opportunities to be responsible, to help and to lead are important for our oldest learners. This year, our P7s identified 10 such opportunities and every pupil selected a team to join. With the support of Miss Pennington, the following teams will be working together for positive change in our school and community: Learning Leaders, Sports Champions, Roving Reporters, Planet Pals, Mr Hastie’s Helpers, Junior Road Safety Officers, Care Crew, Dining Room Duty, Fantastic Fundraisers and Technology Team.

COVID vigilance

Please take a moment to note the following important points:

  • Continue to be vigilant in identifying symptoms in your child (temperature, new continuous cough, change in sense of taste or smell). If your child shows any of these, please keep them off school and get them tested.
  • When awaiting test results, your child will need to remain at home, hopefully just for 24 hours, until the test result comes through. If the test result is negative, your child can come back to school.
  • If your child gets a positive test result, they will need to isolate for 10 days. In this event, we will provide a ‘home learning’ work pack, if your child is well enough to complete it. This is a support not an expectation.
  • If anyone else in your household tests positive for COVID 19, please contact us at school to discuss the possible implications for your child.
