A huge thank you to our wonderful Parent Council for organising Hallowe’en discos for the children and thank you to the DJ, Ian Brown for keeping the children dancing all night! The costumes were amazing! Lots of fun was had by all!
P7 recently shared caterpillars with all classes. The children enjoyed watching them grow then change into a pupa before emerging as butterflies. Once they were ready to fly the P7s released them in the poly tunnel where the other classes visited them before they were finally released into the open.
A huge thank you to all who donated food as part of our Harvest Assembly. Kelso Food Bank were very grateful for our donations.
A big thank you to Crafty Workshops for running slime workshops for our P4/5 children. . Great fun was had by all!!
As part of Maths Week Scotland, P4-7 took part in workshops where they had to solve problems and carry out calculations using manipulatives. Manipulatives are concrete objects such as counters, blocks, cubes and Numicon. Through using manipulatives, children gain a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts by having something hands on to work with.
We had a wonderful assembly led by P7. They were telling us about their residential trip to Robinwood. They spoke very well, making us laugh as well as demonstrating and explaining their adventures brilliantly!
Congratulations to our Lady Bussers for 2024, Sophie Frame and Ruby Thompson. We hope you have an amazing Civic Week and we know you’ll make Edenside and your families proud!
Well done to the P7 Sportshall Athletics team. They came out on top during the Earlston/Kelso cluster competition which led them to the Borders finals. A brilliant performance from them all resulted in 4th place out of all the schools in the Scottish Borders! Well done to all of the competitors!
The Kelso and Jedburgh Cross Country competition was held in the grounds of Floors Castle this week. Edenside took along all of the P6 and P7 children to compete against all of the Kelso and Jedburgh schools. A great competition saw Edenside finish 3rd overall, with all children showing fantastic determination and effort to complete the course.
Some exceptional individual performances resulted in Edenside pupils medalling in all of the categories (Charlie Douglas, Isaac Hastie, Poppy Brown, Archie Scott and Zara Milburn collecting the medals).
We ended the term with Edenside’s Top Ten Christmas Countdown singalong! It also gave us the chance to properly say goodbye to Miss Kerr who leaves us to take up a position closer to home, and to Mrs Webster , whom we wish a very happy retirement to!
In December all classes were busy making Christmas cards to be given to care homes in Kelso. Over 230 cards were made by our pupils which meant that each care home resident in Kelso would receive at least 2 cards from Edenside. Our house captains delivered the cards where they were warmly greeted. One resident said these would be the only cards he would receive this year.
Thank you to our families and the wider community who came to listen to our carol singing in Kelso Square.
What a great job P6 did of performing ‘Alice, the Musical’.
Many hours of learning songs and dance routines, practising lines and making props went into the show!
Well done to all involved!
P2 performed the story of The Nativity in Kelso North Church.
Some P7s supported the P2s by being the narrators of the story.
