Nursery bulletin: Friday 22nd April 2022

Dear nursery families,

This week has to be the quickest week in history, the children have settled back in to nursery life quickly and happily.

Highlights from this week

This week the children have been making the most of the outdoor spaces.

They designed and constructed a walkway out of loose parts to travel from the gate to mud mountain, working together as a team to make sure that it was safe and secure for everyone to use.

The children requested to have the bikes and trikes out this week, some children had been sharing with us that they had learned to ride a bike “properly” over the holidays and were keen to show off their new skills.  They used chalk to draw a track around the playground which they carefully followed, all going in the same direction to avoid collisions.

We have been very fortunate to receive brand new waterproof trousers and jackets from Scottish Borders Council for every child at nursery.  The children were excited to find them on their pegs this week and were eager to try them out when they went to the Secret Garden – one child came into the nursery saying “look at my new suit”, like he was a superhero.

Spending time outdoors in the sunshine, even though it’s not summer quite yet, has sparked the imagination and led to wonderful conversations with the children.  We have had bare feet ‘at the beach’ in the sandpit, sunbathing and stories on a blanket on the grass, snack time ‘al fresco’ and a wonderful bus journey to the beach that required two additional rows of seats to fit all of the children on board.  So, if you’re planning a beach trip anytime soon, the children will be able to pack their bags with everything they need right down to a first aid kit.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Notes

Transition

This term, there will be a big focus on transition, preparing your children for the next stage in their learning journey, whether staying at nursery or moving on to school.  We will be using our Facebook page and the newsletter to share information with you and give you a snapshot of what the children have been up to.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.  If your child is unwell/going to be absent from nursery please notify the school via telephone (01573 224264) or send a message through the Expressions App.

Have a lovely weekend!

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
