Nursery bulletin: Friday 1st April 2022

Dear nursery families,

I can hardly believe that it is the 1st April already, time flies when you’re having fun!

Highlights from this week

On our first trip to the Secret Garden the children had lots of fun going on an Easter egg hunt, the children excitedly ran around the garden hoping to find as many eggs as they could.  Once all the eggs were collected some children lay them out on a bench and counted them and sorted them by colour and/or pattern.

Our loose parts, as always, has played a large part in the children’s activities this week outside.  A group of children decided to use a large plank of wood as a see-saw by putting it at the top of mud mountain and invited other children to come and have a go.

Our young bakers have been busy this week, they helped Elvy make a cake for her birthday and chick and bunny biscuits were made in the Nurture Room.

The snowfall this week was such a contrast to lasts weeks sunshine.  We had to bring out the woolly hats and gloves but it certainly didn’t deter the children from playing outside.  The children enjoyed playing in the freezing water tray, catching snowflakes as they fell and watching them melt as they landed on their clothes.  In the Nurture Room we even brought the snow inside and made patterns in it with rolling pins and shape cutters until it one child stated “Oh, we can’t use it now, it’s melt”.

To round off another great week, all of the children were able to go to the Easter Celebration at the Church today and they were absolutely amazing.  They walked along to the Church sensibly, sat beautifully, listened well and joined in with the songs that they had been learning.  We are so proud of all of the children and hope that you are too.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Notes

Easter Holiday

Today is the last day of term, we hope you all have a wonderful break and look forward to welcoming you back for the final term of this school year on Monday 18th April.

Staff

Some of you may be aware that we have had a bit of movement within the staff team this week.  On Monday we welcomed back Mrs Pearson from her maternity leave, she is joining Mrs Moir & Mrs Little in the Nurture room three days a week.  We also welcomed Catherine Soeder who is joining us for the rest of the school year in the main room, full time.  Sadly, we said goodbye to Miss Carr, who after two years at Edenside is leaving to start a new job after the holidays.  She will be missed by the children, their families and the staff but will be an asset to her new team.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.  If your child is unwell/going to be absent from nursery please notify the school via telephone (01573 224264) or send a message through the Expressions App.

Have a lovely weekend!

Love from The Nursery Team
