Crazy Christmas at Edenside

We are excited about next few week’s here at Edenside. We’ve lots of festive fun planned to ensure your children have a great Christmas season. Full details were shared here last week.

Christmas Swap Shop

Our amazing Parent Council are hosting a Christmas clothing swap shop next week. If you have any children’s Christmas clothing items that you don’t need any more or are too small, we’d be very grateful for the donation. These will then be washed and ready for next week’s ‘swap shop’ on Thursday (9th) at 3.30pm in the main car park.

Christmas 50/50 prize draw

Following the success of last year’s event, our Parent Council are hosting a second Christmas prize draw.  50% of the overall takings go to the Parent Council school fund and the other 50% goes to the prize draw winner. The more people who join, the more we raise for the school and the bigger the prize fund is! The lucky winner will be drawn ‘live’ by Mr Bewsey at 2pm on the 23rd of December 2021, the last day of term! Ticket information went home in school bags today but a copy can be downloaded here.

From our NHS colleagues

As well as helping us with flu vaccinations and the ongoing fight against COVID-19, our NHS colleagues are still trying to protect us from other illnesses and viruses. Please take a moment to look over the following advice about Septicaemia and Meningitis.

School Improvement update

The focus of this week’s teacher team meetings has been curriculum planning. This has involved meeting in teams and reviewing the learning plans for our Winter Festival focus (Why are winter festivals important?) and then our Heart of Scotland focus in the new year (What makes Scotland such a unique place to live?). Working and talking together as teams (collaboration) helps to ensure the planned learning is consistent across classes and helps teachers learn with and from each other.

COVID vigilance

Please take a moment to note the following important points:

  • Continue to be vigilant in identifying symptoms in your child (temperature, new continuous cough, change in sense of taste or smell). If your child shows any of these, please keep them off school and get them tested.
  • When awaiting test results, your child will need to remain at home, hopefully just for 24 hours, until the test result comes through. If the test result is negative, your child can come back to school.
  • If your child gets a positive test result, they will need to isolate for 10 days. In this event, we will provide a ‘home learning’ work pack, if your child is well enough to complete it. This is a support not an expectation.
  • If anyone else in your household tests positive for COVID 19, please contact us at school to discuss the possible implications for your child.
