Whole School Bulletin 27th May 2022

Happy Friday everyone!

Holidays

A reminder that the school will be closed on Monday 30th May due to a Cheviot schools holiday and also on Friday 3rd June for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Reports / Parents Evening

Your child’s end of year report has been sent home today. Please check school bags/homework folders. We are looking forward to seeing you in person next week at our first in-school consultation for over 2 years, to discuss your child’s learning further. Appointments are still available so please contact the school office if you still need to book a slot.

Showbie – an online platform to give you a window into learning

As mentioned in last week’s bulletin, class teachers have been experimenting with Showbie, an App on the iPad that supports learning and teaching in the classroom. Showbie is ‘going live’ which means that you will be able to access your child’s folder. Along with your child’s report, you will have received a letter with details of how to access your child’s learning. Here’s a helpful video to guide you through the sign-up process -‘Showbie – getting families connected’ https://youtu.be/DtaNrr4gts4

Toys

Please can we politely request that all toys and cards are kept at home. These are causing increasing disputes both in and out of the classrooms.

Nursery News

This week the children have experienced Scottish weather at its best. We have been jumping in puddles, playing in the rain, made some fantastic kites to fly in the wind and enjoyed snack outside in the sun. In the secret garden the children took part in a number hunt. Everyone worked together showing fantastic interactions and peer support to collect the numbers and then sequence them, everyone was very pleased with their efforts and asked for a photo.

Indoors the children have been playing with the small world trains and animals. There have been some amazing adventures on safari and to the seaside. The social interactions have been wonderful to see along with the creativity shown when creating these fantasy worlds.

Head Lice is an on-going problem within the school and nursery and as the long weekend is coming up we would urge everyone to check their child’s heads as it provides a good opportunity to try and keep on top of the spread of them.

As the nicer weather is coming please can you ensure that you child has a water bottle with them. We will be continuing to attend the secret garden, Wednesday for 2 and 3 year olds, and a Thursday for the 4 year olds, please can you make sure the children have long trousers on as the garden is in full bloom with both wild flowers and stingy nettles!
