Nursery bulletin: Friday 10th September 2021

Dear families,

We have had an active week at nursery, spending lots of time outside in our garden and at the secret garden.

Highlights from this week:

 elc pics

The children have been talking about themselves and their families again this week.  They have been talking about different jobs their family members do, they have been creating faces out of natural objects and continuing to draw self-portraits.

Outside the children have been painting on a grand scale.  We put paper on the side of the shed to encourage the children to make large brush strokes to help develop the muscles in their shoulders.

The children really enjoyed having the large water tray outside in the sunshine; they were filling jugs and containers of different sizes and pouring it down the water run.  We encouraged the children to use buckets to collect the water and recycle it back into the water tray.  They added tubes and guttering to make the flow of the water quicker and more exciting.  We witnessed great communication skills, collaboration and use of imagination.

The children helped Mrs Armstrong collect the bumper crop of apples from our small apple tree in front of the nursery.  We asked the children what they would like to make with the apples and after a quick vote apple crumble won. Our chefs were able to practise their cutting, weighing and rubbing in skills to produce two scrumptious crumbles which they ate for snack.

Daily snack:

The children have a variety of fruit and vegetable sticks for morning and afternoon snack along with a drink of milk or water.

Other news:

We would be grateful if you could continue to wear face masks when dropping off and collecting your child, unless you are exempt.  As a means of keeping everyone safe and adhering to NHS and Scottish Government guidelines please can you remember to ‘stick to one adult at drop off/pick up’ time.

Illness

We are continuing to be vigilant and to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Have a lovely weekend!
