Nursery bulletin: Friday 26th March 2021

Dear nursery families,

Another week at Edenside nursery has flown by in the blink of an eye.  Even though the sun hasn’t been shining every day, the children have been enjoying the fresh air and space to play outside.

Highlights from this week:

ELC 1

The children have been particularly interested in spending time outdoors:

  • There has been more investigating going on in the secret garden this week, the children were listening to the birds singing and used binoculars and a book to identify the birds. Some children found a green caterpillar hiding under a log and were keen to bring it back to nursery and it is now living in our butterfly habitat so the children can see it grow and change.
  • The children have been watching their beans sprouting and have potted them ready to bring home next week. Others have sown watermelon seeds and will be watching and waiting for signs of growth, before they come home next week too.
  • The children have decided, contrary to the current recommendations, to open a hair salon in the nursery. As you can imagine this has been very popular and queues have been forming at the door.  We have seen such care for each other and great communication skills, as well as opportunities to  support numeracy and early writing skills with the till and appointment book.
  • At the art area children have been practicing following and making up their own patterns to decorate eggs, enhancing their scissor control and cutting skills and talking to their friends and adults about what they are creating.

Thank you

As she is unable to do this in person, Miss McHarg  would like to thank everyone who took the time to complete her online survey for University. “The responses have been fantastic and really helped inform my research project.  Thank you all so much.”

Snack money

Please continue to make snack payments of 50p per child per day via ParentPay.  If you are having any problem with this please speak to a member of staff.

Illness

Aware of the rise in Covid cases nationally, we are continuing to be vigilant to keep everyone in our learning community safe. If your child shows any symptoms of being unwell, please do keep them at home. If anyone in the family shows symptoms of Covid-19, please follow the NHS Scotland guidance, which can be found here.  Thank you for working with us to keep our school community safe.

Easter Holidays

Next week is a slightly shorter week as we finish on Thursday 1st April for the Easter break.  The term starts again on Monday 19th April.

Have a lovely weekend!
