School bulletin: Friday 20th November

Happy Friday everyone!

Calling all parents – your council want you!

Our brilliant parent council meets every term and the next meeting is NEXT THURSDAY evening, 7-8pm via ZOOM (joining details will be shared next week). ALL parents and carers are warmly invited to attend. At next week’s meeting, there will be the usual school update from Mr Bewsey as well as the normal discussions about fundraising. Please join us if you can.

Edenside’s 50th birthday party – Friday 27th November

Next Friday, in place of a normal school morning, we will be hosting a special 50th birthday party to mark 50 years since the current Edenside school was opened. Children are invited to come in 1970s-style clothing (patterns, floral, bright colours) and be prepared to enjoy a 70’s themed party morning (disco dancing, 70s party games, etc).

PLEASE NOTE, the Friday brunch menu will be different to that shown on ParentPay. Our school kitchen is providing our children with a 70s inspired party lunch made up of sausages rolls (meat or vegetarian), birthday cake, fruit and a drink. If you have already booked next week’s Friday brunch, please check your plans with the new brunch in mind. If you haven’t booked but want to, just log in to ParentPay and book a Friday brunch.

Parent phone calls – end of the term catch-up

Following the success of our teacher phone calls in October, we will be getting in touch again at the start of December. Appointment slots will be shared next week for phone calls during the week commencing Monday 30th November. We hope this 10 minute conversation with your child’s teacher provides a helpful insight into their learning.

Christmas @Edenside – making it special despite the pandemic

As mentioned last week, we are in the process of finalising a number of special events and activities to ensure the children of Edenside can celebrate Christmas as much as possible. This will include ‘bubble parties’, a streamed pantomime, a ‘virtual visit’ from Santa and, of course, the traditional Christmas school dinner. The dinner is now set for Wednesday 16th December so if you have already booked school lunches that far in advance, please check your ParentPay plans with the Christmas dinner in mind.

Further specific details about all the Christmas plans will be shared in due course.

Parent voice – your opinion matters

Here at Edenside, we hope you have always felt able to share your thoughts and opinions. During these uncertain and different times, we believe your involvement and opinions are even more important. With this in mind, Mr Bewsey would really like your thoughts about a proposal to a change to our written reports this year. Everything you need to know is contained in this video and short survey. If you can find the time to watch the video and share your thoughts, we’d be really grateful.
