School bulletin: Friday 30th October 2020

goodbye So here’s to you, Mrs Hinnigan!

Today we bid farewell to Mrs Hinnigan as she embarks on an exciting new adventure working for the Scottish Government. She has been an invaluable member of Team Edenside and will be missed.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Elaine Webster on Monday to ‘pick up the reins’ as our Kelso Cluster administrator.

poppy Poppy Appeal – there’s still time

It’s been lovely to see so many children wearing their poppies this week. We still have plenty and a wee silver donation will help support this worthy cause. #LestWeForget

1 P1 update – a couple of important ‘tweaks to the week’For all parents of our Primary 1 children, please take a moment to read over this ‘P1 update’ that explains a couple of small changes to the week. Thank you, as ever, for your patience and understanding as we continue to get the balance right for our wee learners. #Primary1
notes Music lessons (P4-7) – a few opportunities available

Scottish Borders Council, through the Instrumental Service, offers young people the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.  Through playing an instrument young people derive great pleasure, gain in confidence and learn a wide range of creative and social skills.

We have been informed that a few instrument lessons are available. If this is something that you would like to explore for your children, please phone us at school and we’ll share more information.

parent Parent Club (Scotland) – support for all families

Parent Club is a digital information resource, support hub and online community from the Scottish Government, offering practical advice and support for families across Scotland. The site includes tips and advice on a range of subjects, including helping parents and carers to keep calm and coping with difficult behaviour. Why not check out the site at www.parentclub.scot #ParentsRock

loose parts Loose parts – a wee reminder!

We are really keen to expand our ‘lose parts play’ provision. To do this we need to collect more ‘loose parts’. The list of possible loose parts is endless but can include: hoses/pipes/gutters, tyres, old steering wheels, wheels from bikes/trikes, wooden boxes/plastic crates, metal pots and pans, metal watering cans, planks of wood, offcuts of decking/timber, pallets, large wooden picture frames (minus the glass), wooden cable reels, large pieces of fabric/tarpaulin, tree stumps/logs/log slices, buckets.

If you or any family members may have any such items which you could donate, we would be most grateful. Please contact Mrs White via the school email address. Thank you so much. #LearningThroughPlay
